Are there proms/formals in college that anybody can go to?

I know fraternities/sororities will have them, but can anybody go to them? I just had a really suckish senior prom, and I was hoping there was still a chance for me to have a fun time at a dance like that. I'm going to a small liberal arts college, so will they maybe have a formal for everybody or something?
