Puppy Barks in Crate?

We have a 15 week mastiff. He'll be good in the crate for half the night, then he will wake up and bark so we let him out to do his business. But then he will proceed to bark and bark and bark forEVER after we put him back in his crate to go back to sleep. Is there anything we can do about this?
